Aerobic Execise

Aerobic exercise is a type of fitness training that utilizes oxygen in the body. During aerobic exercise, the body’s energy resources include glycogen, fats and proteins. In order to facilitate the wastes resulting from the combustion of these fuel resources, oxygen is needed to move them out of the muscle tissues. In the absence of oxygen, lactic acid, one of the by-products, can accumulate and cause muscle cramps.

Benefits

The aerobic system of exercise gets activated when large muscles move for a longer time usually 30 minutes to an hour. You expect cardiovascular, respiratory and endurance benefits from performing aerobic exercise. Fat-burning is more effective in aerobic exercises since the muscles are not overworked but are consistently contracting with the requirement that oxygen flows in and out. After the physical exercise, an overall feeling of wellness is achieved.

Examples

Aerobic exercises vary and oxygen consumption usually depends on age, gender, heredity, inactivity and disease. But whatever aerobic exercise you choose, you must consult your physician if it is appropriate for you. These are examples of aerobic exercises: aerobic dancing, walking, running, swimming, biking among others. For the goal of burning fat, a minimum of an hour for low-intensity training is mostly required.

Physiologic Responses

Because of the increased demands in the energy requirements of aerobic exercise, the cardiovascular system doubles its work to distribute oxygen and eliminate the carbon dioxide and lactic acid accumulation. Consequently, the respiratory organs are maximally contributing their roles in taking in oxygen from the environment and exhaling the carbon dioxide out of the body. Sweating is a normal physiological response to facilitate heat dissipation, as it is brought by the increased body temperature within the body.
